Author publishes his fourth novel
A PENSIONER from Burbage is rising again with the publication of his fourth book.
Roger Parkes released The Phoenix Project as a follow on from a trilogy of books based around a single main character, Polly Bottomley, beginning in 1947 with Polly aged just 13.
The book is set in 1968 as a British government concerned with the rising popularity of communism calls on the experience of Polly, a retired MP with experience of Soviet conspiracies in Britain and Europe.
However, her life is put in danger and she becomes embroiled in a romantic attachment which changes her life forever.
The first novel in the series, The Secrets Holder, was based on black market racketeering after World War One, with follow- on novels, The Traffic Light Syndrome and The Octopus Virus, both published in 2016, about conspiracies at the height of the Cold War between the superpowers in the West and Russia.
Mr Parkes said about his newly released novel: “I have had a very good response from colleagues that have purchased it.
“Each book takes just under four months to complete. I write for about two or three hours at a time.”
The author and grandad said that Amazon is a major place where he sells his books.
Roger added: “All of my novels are available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle.
“The Secrets Holder and The Phoenix Project are also available at most Waterstones book shops.”
