Man Down star becomes Loros patron

-

TV STAR and comedian Greg Davies is the latest name on the list of patrons for the county’s hospice, Loros.

Best known for his roles in The Inbetweeners, Kuckoo, Man Down and the host of Task Master, Greg has been mentioning the hospice during his latest comedy tour, following an insightful visit.

Keen to add further support Greg has accepted a role as patron.

He said: “My visit to Loros totally changed my perception of what a hospice is and does.

“The positive and uplifting atmosphere created by the staff confounded my expectations.

“I am delighted to become one of their patrons.”

During the three-night Leicester run of his show he organised bucket collections, raising £2,000.

Here, and at other venues, he has also spoken about the realisation that, despite Loros caring for the terminally ill, the place and people were very much alive.

Loros chief executive John Knight said: “We are constantly trying to dispel the myths surrounding hospice care, so it is great to hear that Greg’s perception of what Loros is completely changed the moment he stepped through our doors.

“Furthermore, I was extremely pleased and proud of the organisation to hear that Greg wanted to continue supporting us and become a patron.”

Davies began his career as a stand-up but became a familiar face after appearing in Channel 4 comedy The Inbetweeners.

He has since gone on to write and star in his own sitcom Man Down.

A registered charity Loros relies on donations and fundraising to raise £5 million annually towards caring for people with life limiting illnesses from Leicestershire and Rutland.

Shropshire-born Greg joins the likes of Martin Johnson and Hollywood celebrity couple Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters as patrons.
