Your chance to have a say on prescriptions
PATIENTS who use repeat prescription services are being asked to share their views on the process.
The health trust which manages care across Hinckley and Bosworth has launched a survey to understand if there are ways the service can be improved for patients, pharmacies and practices.
Dr Chris Barlow, from the West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group said: “It is important that a repeat prescription process works well for patients.
“It should be convenient, accessible and safe.
“It is important we understand how well people feel it works for them currently, before we make any changes.
“One aspect we want to focus on is the possibility of reducing levels of wasted medicines as some patients report ending up with more medicines than they need being stored at home, which can be frustrating for patients and wasteful for the NHS.”
In Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland medicines waste is estimated to be in the region of more than £2 million per year and West Leicestershire CCG is keen to find out if it can reduce its share of this by asking how people order their repeat prescriptions.
Dr Barlow added: “The CCG would really like to hear from people who currently order repeat prescriptions via their GP, phar- macy or another service to understand more about their experience of these processes.
“I encourage all patients who use repeat ordering processes to complete the survey and let us know about your experiences.
“We want to gather as much feedback as possible to help us to develop our approach.”
