Vicar Geraldine is set to come to special service at Concordia

-

THE New Theatre Players are to perform The Vicar of Dibley at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley next month.

Four episodes will be performed.

These are The Window and the Weather where a fierce storm blows out the main stained-glass window at St Barnabas Church.

In Dibley Lives, Geraldine presents a “Brain of Dibley” competition while Radio Dibley is on the air live.

In Celebrity Vicar, Geraldine becomes a celebrity after an appearance on the “Pause for Thought” television show.

And in Love and Mar- riage, Geraldine prepares for Alice and Hugo’s wedding then meets a dashing man of her own.

The Vicar of Dibley is a British sitcom which originally ran on BBC One from 1994 to 1998.

It is set in a fictional small Oxfordshire village called Dibley, which is assigned a female vicar following the 1992 changes in the Church of England that permitted the ordination of women.

In ratings terms, the programme is among the most successful in the digital era, with the various Christmas and New Year specials in 1999, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 all entering the top 10 programmes of the year.

The Vicar of Dibley received multiple British Comedy Awards (including a Best TV Comedy Actress Award for Emma Chambers), two International Emmys, and was a multiple British Academy Television Awards nominee. In 2004, it placed third in a BBC poll of Britain’s Best Sitcom.

The series also includes six charity special shorts, for Comic Relief, the most recent in 2015.

The live show is on from March 6 to 10 at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley. Contact the box office for more details.
