A FAMILY-RUN furniture store has “brought back to life” the former Co-op building after it was opened to shoppers and residents on Saturday.

Cut Price Suites previously traded for 30 years in Churchgate, Leicester, but moved its new national headquarters into the Castle Street building. The store was officially opened by the Mayor of Hinckley over the weekend.

The shop sells a stylish range of branded and designer sofas, beds and bedroom furniture, sofa beds and chairs, all at knock-down prices.

Joining in the opening day fun were staff from Proppa Coffee, who opened a brand new coffee shop in the same building.

Gareth Hancock, managing director of Cut-Price Suites, said: “Our ethos has always been to give exceptional value with exceptional service.

“All of our products are of the highest quality and very carefully checked by us prior to delivery. We look forward to welcom- ing many new customers as well as those who have supported us over the years.”

Simon Grant, a former Concordia Theatre pantomime dame, runs the Proppa Coffee shop and said that people could expect to enjoy fresh, ground coffee as well as light lunches, scones and cakes, all locally made.

He added: “It was an amazing open day with lots of new and previous customers that have used the cafe before.

“The customers have all been very supportive and encouraging towards our new venture. We took the plunge from a mobile coffee unit - started last year - to a nice, bright, warm cafe inside with no rain or mud in sight.

“We have stuck to selling our fresh ground coffee and tea etc and now we can offer light lunches, jacket potatoes, scones and cakes made by other businesses in Hinckley.

“As a local lad, I’m keen to support anything Hinckley has to offer and I’m sure all the customers will do the same for us.”

Steve Wegerif, director of Hinckley BID and one of the guests at the opening, said that the new shop would “add further value” to Hinckley’s other independent stores.

He added: “We are all delighted that Cut Price Suites decided to move to Hinckley after 30 years trading in Churchgate, Leicester.

“From the comments made by many who have visited the new store, clearly they are here to stay.

“With such a wide range of brands on offer for beds, suites, dining and occasional furniture and lighting, what was a very popular Co-op store has more than been brought back to life.

“This family-run business adds further value to the 100 plus independent businesses in Hinckley town centre already popular with shoppers from near and far, all of which have contributed to Hinckley being awarded ‘Best Market Town in Leicestershire’ late last year.”
