Dining club in the city
WHAT street food delights will diners be able to sample when Digbeth Dining Club comes to Coventry for the first time in 2018?
The award-winning street food event, which has previously taken place in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral, will be coming to a new site in Coventry this year - Station Square in Friargate.
Its first visit will be on Wednesday, February 28, and the sumptuous street food fare on offer at the inaugural Friargate Lunch Club ranges from some of the best burgers around to an authentic taste of the Middle East.
Digbeth Dining Club’s new location has come about thanks to the Friargate developers, who are keen to make Station Square a go-to destination in the city centre.
The February 28 event marks the start of a monthly lunch club in Station Square, close to Coventry railway station.
From March it will take place every first Wednesday of the month.
Digbeth Dining Club has been a huge success since it started-up in Digbeth five years ago.
Since then it has grown hugely and moved beyond its Digbeth home to stage pop-up events in other cities and locations, including Coventry.
The first Friargate Lunch Club takes place from 11am until 3pm on February 28 and the food line-up is as follows.
Flying Cows: Crowned purveyor of the best burger at the 2017 British Street Food Awards
The Middle Feast: Traditional Middle eastern inspired kebabs and mezzé using less than traditional flavours and ingredients
Handmade Pizza: Woodfired sourdough pizzas
Esmies: The Fargo residents create imaginative Caribbean food made with love in Coventry
Bare Bones Coffee and Churros: Spanish inspired hot chocolate, churros and coffee
There will also be stalls from the Digbeth Arts Market, which has grown organically since its establishment in 2016, blossoming into a community of artists, designers and craftspeople.
