Freezing conditions return to make life difficult

DESPITE the weather there was some excellent catches when Lutterworth Angling Club fished the match lake at Market Bosworth’s Friezland Pools.

Leading the way was Chris Moore who ledgered bread to catch a superb 92lb 6oz of carp to win.

Runner Up Micky Davis used similar tactics to catch 43lb with JT finishing third with 41lb 8ozs.

Shackerstone’s Open was pegged along the Populars length.

Phil Baker recorded his second win in a row with an all perch catch weighing 2lb 4ozs.

A single 1lb 11oz perch gave Andy Smith second place while Doug Dimbleby caught the most fish of the day, weighing 14ozs of tiny roach for third place.

Brookfield’s Open match at Stoke Golding on Sunday was won by Ray Lewis with a 10lb 12oz catch of small bream from peg 21.

Stu Campton caught a 4lb 10oz carp in the first five minutes and never had another bite, but still finished second on what was another hard day.

Thick ice caused Higham Lane Fishery to cancel both Thursday’s and Saturday’s matches.

With ice on the Lakes on Wednesday it was another tough day for those fishing Maynes Lakes mid week Open.

Wayne Smith used the same tactics, pole fished bread punch as he used the previous week, and won again with a 9lb 3oz catch from peg 44 on Pool Three.

Top catch from Pool One was made by Tony Simonneti with 8lb 8ozs from peg 33.

Higham Lane Fishery have Open matches planned for Thursday and Saturday, draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, draw at 9.15am.

Shackerstone continue the On style lifting sponsored league with the third round taking place this Sunday. Draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Brookfield have an Open match this Sunday at Stoke Golding, draw 9am.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.
