Hinckley C get revenge

-

HERE are the latest reports from the Hinckley Ladies Netball Team. C team After their close defeat in their first encounter with Alvis earlier in the season, Hinckley Ladies C were eager for revenge.

Hinckley took an early lead and were five goals up after the first quarter.

Hinckley’s Shooters were on great form and the attack worked the ball well round court to feed them.

However, the Alvis shooters were also missing little and as they settled they began to push Hinckley to close the gap.

In the second half Hinckley really felt the pressure, making forced errors and Alvis took advantage of the turnover ball.

The final quarter was very tense with Alvis drawing level at one point.

The last five minutes saw the Hinckley Defence strongly fighting off the rampant Alvis attack and the Hinckley attack rewarded them with precision shooting, taking them through to a 42-39 victory.

Player of the match was GA Emily Harrison. D team Hinckley D played Highway D away in a re-arranged evening match following their postponed game due to snow in December.

Highway defenders worked hard at keeping Hinckley shooters away from the post but some amazing shooting from both GS and GA meant this wasn’t effective.

The Highway defence were however making it very difficult for the attack to feed the ball into the shooters and opportunities throughout the game did become limited.

Awesome interceptions from GK denied Highway many goals. Centre court play was consistent with WD getting many interceptions and WA finding lots of space on court.

C did some really accurate high balls at centre passes back to the GD which were working really well to slow down game play.

Despite the score line, the whole team bought something to the game and will work on this going forward, Hinckley did lose 49 – 26 with player of the match going to Ede Roche at WD

Hinckley D had another tough match this weekend against top of the league Rugby Railway C, who haven’t lost any matches this season.

Hinckley’s first quarter started off nervously and Rugby took an early lead 15 – 6.

In the second and last quarter Hinckley’s shooters were on form with some great shots following good feeds into the circle from C and WA and they matched Rugby goal for goal, with Hinckley scoring nine goals to Rugby’s 10 goals in each quarter.

Hinckley’s defenders intercepted so many of the Rugby balls, doing as much as they could to stop the athletic GA, and receiving some coaching at each break to tighten up their tactics which helped their movement even more.

During the third quarter Hinckley lost some momentum and again a few errors meant Rugby increased their lead by more goals.

Hinckley did play the game really well and stayed reasonably calm throughout but the difference was too great Hinckley finally lost the game 49 - 32.

Player of the match went to Steph Morton playing GK/GD subbing from the E team.

Hinckley were pleased with their overall performance and will be working on strategies for their next games.
