Tears for Fears join BBC line up at Big Weekend

-

TEARS for Fears are the latest band to be announced for Coventry’s Biggest Weekend festival.

The 80s pop band will join Billy Ocean, Paloma Faith, Snow Patrol, Jamie Cullum and UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey at War Memorial Park on Sunday, May 27.

Tears for Fears formed in Bath in 1981 and are most wellknown for their hit singles Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World.

BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend festival is being held over the four-day May bank holiday weekend in four UK locations, with Coventry hosting acts presented by BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3 on Sunday and Monday.

Monday, May 28 will see Nigel Kennedy, Eliza Carthy, GoGo Penguin and Miloš take to the stage as well as the BBC Concert Orchestra.

It kick-starts a huge summer of music in Coventry, which includes the always popular Godiva Festival.

Tickets are on sale now with more than half of them reserved for Coventry residents to ensure a local tun out.

Over the whole weekend the likes of Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Craig David, Niall Horan, Franz Ferdinand and Noel Gallagher will be performing in Swansea, Perth and Belfast.

It is thought the BBC chose to host the huge scale event this year in response to the fact that there will be no Glastonbury Festival in 2018.
