Pig in Muck and other pubs make shortlist of top ale houses

-

SEVERAL pubs from this area have made it on to the shortlist for Leicester CAMRA’s Pub of the Year.

Voting is already under-way in the contest which sees a whopping 40 pubs up for the gong.

The local branch of Campaign for Real Ale has almost 2,000 members, and produces the Leicester Drinker magazine.

This year, the criteria for inclusion in the shortlist meant that pubs had to have been open by or had no change of management since June 30 2017.

Pubs must also have been entered into the current CAMRA Good Beer Guide, or won a Leicester CAMRA Pub of the Month award in the past 12 months.

Voting is also open for the Leicester CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year, and Club of the Year.

Last year, newcomer The Real Ale Classroom in Allandale Road took the top prize for overall Pub of the Year.

The Kings Head in Leicester came second, with The Black Horse in Aylestone taking third place.
