Plough Inn to take on the Galacticos in cup final

-

PLOUGH Inn Bruntingthorpe will contest the Final of the County Premier Shield after they travelled to Desford from the Alliance League in the Semi-Final and came away with a 2-1 win. The first half was a tight affair with the hard and bobbly pitch making things difficult for both teams. Desford had the first chance of the game but went narrowly wide after five minutes.

This sparked The Plough into life and Kyle Sperry had a half chance deflected onto the Desford bar with the home keeper beaten. Plough keeper Jack Anderson then had to be at his best to keep a header from finding the top corner and was fortunate to see the close range rebound go the wrong side of the post.

With both sides continuing to create a few half chances, the game reached half time goalless. In the second half it was The Plough to took the lead on the hour after Ross Perry glanced a Sperry corner to Luke Rimmer on the far post who hammered a left-footed half-volley past the Desford keeper.

Within a minute Desford were level though after a cross was misjudged and ended up in the corner of the Plough net. With all to play for the game began to open up and it was Alex Barraclough who drifted past the home defence to hammer a right foot shot past the Desford keeper to regain the lead.

As the game wore on it was the Plough who created the better chances through the prompting of man of the match Jordie Norton. The final will be at Holmes Park on March 25th against Fairfield Galaticos.
