Netball reports from Hinckley

-

C Team HINCKLEY C went out on Thursday evening not only battling the undefeated Coventry and North Warwickshire B, but freezing temperatures as well. Going out strong, Hinckley’s shooters made the most of quick moving balls and defensive turnovers in the first quarter, but as C&NW settled into the game their big balls into the shooter were difficult to defend against.

Defensive duo Jo and Annis applied pressure and caused numerous mistakes for C&NW, allowing scores to be tight at half time. C&NW dominated in the third quarter, stealing a lot of balls from Hinckley with some great interceptions as Hinckley struggled to get the balls through to their shooters. A change of their GA position at half time for C&NW also helped boost their goal tally, with them eventually taking the win. Player of the match went to Emily Harrison. D Team Hinckley E played Highway at home and started the game steadily with both teams matching each other goal for goal and with some strong centre play and good shooting by both sides, Hinckley ended the quarter 3 goals behind 9 – 12.

Despite Hinckley’s defence having a good game against a very experienced GS and young GA who rarely missed a goal scoring opportunity, Highway increased their lead further.

Unfortunately the second and third quarter was lacklustre for Hinckley’s attack, with some silly mistakes in passing into the circle and frustratingly the goals also not going in did not help Hinckley to close the gap.

Hinckley switched players round at half time but Hinckley could only do enough to get a point from the game and lost 24 – 41. Player of the match went to Ede Roche who played WD and WA. E Team Hinckley E team faced Coventry North Warwickshire D and finished with a loss at 30-41.

Hinckley E started off strong with good possession and working it into the shooters finishing the first quarter in the lead 8-7. They kept strong through the second quarter finishing at half time only 1 goal down. Despite some great interceptions from defence and attack alike, the opposition kept up their set plays to pull ahead. Player of the match went to Katie Eaves at centre for her high-energy play up and down the court.
