Haunted museum opens

Spirits will be out in force

A HAUNTED museum is opening in Hinckley with a haul of spirit-filled items including a wheelchair and a wartime infant gas mask.

The Antiques Paranormal Research Centre is above Coventry Building Society on Regent Street, and was chosen by Neil Packer and his team as they claimed several spirits were already in residence.

He said: “There’s nothing like this in the UK.

“There will be four areas, including an area to sit and talk and have a drink and a main exhibition room where you can see a lot of the items.

“Our items have a lot of emotion attached and spiritual energy around them.

“There’s a set of stairs in the corridor where we picked up a lot of energy.

“If you want to sit in the wheelchair or rocking chair you will be free to do so. If you’d like to pick up and hold an item you are free to do so.

“See what you sense or feel. Relax in one of the comfy armchairs and immerse yourself into the world of the paranormal.”

Visitors are invited to record their feelings in a day book in the spooky space, and the museum is taking bookings from paranormal groups interested in overnight investigations.

Mr Packer is already running weekly live streams from the museum on Facebook to monitor activity.

He has been researching and collecting objects with a spiritual presence to go towards the museum, originally housing them in his carport.

He was recently loaned a doll whose previous owners claimed had scratched them and set off fire alarms, to experiment with the item and see if mediums could detect any spiritual activity.

Mr Packer said: “That doll was actually not haunted after our findings.

“We tried many different experiments and had a practising white witch and a trance medium work with it, but we got nothing from it.”

The Antiques Paranormal Research Centre will be open to the general public at weekends, with the opening day on March 3.

There are plans for a 24/7 feed on an upcoming YouTube channel, using a four-camera system in the museum to track the spirits.
