Drivers should know the law and turn their lights on when they need to Over an hour and a half to get out of store car park

-

WHILE watching this morning’s BBC news, Friday 9th March, I was surprised to see so many car drivers passing by my home who don’t know the rules of driving in fog.

Headlights and therefore taillights should be on in hours of darkness with front and rear fogs on if in dense fog.

In daylight hours at least head and tail lights should be used. But this morning, in thick fog and darkness, I saw numerous vehicles being driven on these new running lights only.

Many of these drivers don’t seem to realise that when driving on their LED running lights, their taillights don’t come on. Or is it that they just don’t care?

In my personal opinion, I think these LED running lights showing during the day are a great visible aid to other road users and pedestrians.

However, many drivers need reminding that during the hours of darkness or in fog, Headlights and Taillights are the norm. That way we will ALL see them and be safer.

John Rowley, Earl Shilton. ON Friday night 09/03/18 I spent nearly one hour forty minutes trying, along with other frustrated drivers, to exit Morrison’s carpark. One hour thirty minutes of this was actually spent on their carpark.

There is a simple solution to cut down this abborant waste of time.

First reduce the speed limit on Normandy Way from 40mph to 30mph.

Second, install traffic lights at this junction and at the same time, negotiate with Morrisons’ and put in an exit road from said carpark onto the roundabout...and before some bright spark from either HBBC or LCC says this can’t be done as it too dangerous..I say to them “Go to ASDA at Grantham where their exit slip road is directly on a roundabout.....How long have we got to wait until there is a serious accident at this notorious junction?
