A POLICE investigation into the discovery of a body in a burnt out car on Burbage common has concluded.

Leicestershire Police, who were previously treating the death as unexplained said this week they were satisfied the death was not suspicious.

The body of a man was found in a vehicle at the beauty spot earlier this month. Police officers and fire crews attended the scene on March 5 following the discovery.

A statement from Leicestershire Police said: “Detectives have concluded that the death of a man found in a burnt out vehicle at Burbage Common, Hinckley is not suspicious.

“Officers were called around 6.20am on Monday 5 March after a member of the public discovered the vehicle in a car park with the body inside.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out by detectives to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.

“These enquiries have since established that the death is not suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

“Identification of the deceased is a matter for the coroner.”

Following the discovery of the body, police initially said that the death was being treated as ‘unexplained’.

The car park was cordoned off while police carried out enquiries and a forensic examination of the scene.
