History group hands out over £2,000 to town good causes
A TOWN history group has held its third annual presentation evening handing out over £2,000 to good causes.
The Hinckley District Past and Present (HDPP) event took place at the Greyhound pub on New Buildings.
The groups’ founder Paul Gardner said “This year we have helped thirteen local good causes, donating just over £2,000.”
The lucky nominees were Hinckley Christian Community Action (Foodbank), Hinckley Lawrence House Homeless Group, Hinckley Helpers, SNIPS, Sian Davis (Summer Girl Guide International Volunteering), 4th (StMarys) Scout Group, Isla Tansley, St Mary’s Church Band, Ryan Mullens, Time Out For Carers, Friends of Menphys (Sketchley Hill), 6th (St Francis) Scout Group, St Mary’s Church Lads & Church Girls Marching Band.
Paul Added “A big thank you to everybody that has supported our fundraising events in the last 12 months to be able to help so many local good causes this year.”
HDPP is a local Facebook group that promotes local heritage, working alongside Hinckley and District Museum, Hinckley BID and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council. It regularly posts pictures of the area both past and present. It holds regular monthly social meetings and monthly scanning sessions.
The group also visit schools, groups and residential homes around the area.
