Sunday League building to its climax

-

THE weather again proved to be the deciding factor last weekend with all matches falling foul of the conditions.

With the last few weeks of the season coming up, the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division looks likely to depend on the outcome of the matches between defending champions Sporting Dynamo and leaders FC Topps who defend a 100 per cent league record at present.

Sporting also have to play Enderby Social and Plough Inn twice which may also have a bearing on the destination of the title.

This weekend though sees cup action as Sporting face FC Bacc.

In the JMS Engineers Senior Cup semi-final at Coalville’s Owen Street ground while Plough Inn travel to Holmes Park to play FC Galaticos in the final of the County Senior Sheild.

There’s also a key game this weekend in the PWS Leicester Division One with leaders Athletico Duke travelling to third placed Wykin.

A win for Duke would go a long way to ensuring they take the title but a result for Wykin could throw the whole title race open with Ullesthorpe still in with a chance of the top spot having a superior goal difference.

Ullesthorpe also face a tough trip this weekend with a visit to AFC Pubwatch who are the only other team with a mathematical chance of the title.

Coalville Miners and Stanton United OB still have a CS Construction Junior Cup semi-final to play with the winners facing Stanton United OB Reserves in the final.

The Printing Works Division Two title is still undecided with Stoke Golding and Stoneycroft looking the most likely to come out on top although Thurlaston Magpies and TC Building with their games in hand may also be in the mix.

Those two meet this Sunday with the losing team likely to find themselves with too much to do in the last few weeks.

Stoneycroft still have to host Stoke Golding and Magpies in two vital game in the run-in.

The dates for the three League Cup finals have been confirmed with Barwell’s Kirkby Road ground hosting all three matches.

The Junior and Senior Cup Finals will be on the consecutive Sundays of the 22nd and 29th of April with 10.30 kick offs and the Les Moore Final being held on Friday 27th April with a 7pm kick off.

Those Finals and this Sunday’s County Shield Final will be reported on the HDSL Facebook page and the HDSL Press Twitter account which will have live commentary on those games as they happen.
