Kevin feels right at home on peg seven landing over 30lbs

- with Richard Wade

IT HAS been another tough week for local anglers as the weather again made sport almost impossible.

Kevin Milne fishes peg seven at Higham Lane Fishery so often he has his post delivered there.

So it was no surprise to see him win the Saturday Open when he drew peg seven again.

Despite a bitterly cold wind blowing straight at him Kevin legered bread and corn baits to finish with a 30lb 7oz winning catch.

Jim Spradbury pole fished corn on peg 17, and despite catching more carp than the winner, they were much smaller, and he had to settle for second place with 22lb 11ozs.

Dean Hughes weighed a level 8lb to finish third.

There was no snow for Maynes lakes mid week Open match, but the strong bitterly cold wind made conditions uncomfortable for those taking part. Darryl Moore yet again took the honours.

Drawn on peg 28 on Pool 1 Darryl poled fished bread punch to finish with a 13lb 15oz catch of small carp.

Top catch on Pool Two was made by Ian Haddon who landed 7lb 4ozs from peg six.

Lychgate Fisheries Open was won by Andy Findley who used a small feeder to catch 19lb 1ozs of small carp from peg 51.Ian Shirley finished a close second with 18lb 2ozs from peg 39.

Thursday’s Higham Lane Fishery not surprisingly was at its hardest with John Varley landing three carp from peg 13 for a winning 12lb 8oz catch.

Mick Smith and Dave Hurlston tied for second place, both weighed 9lb 8ozs.

Higham Lane Fishery have an Open match every Thursday and Saturday, draw 9am.
