Commitment and hard work pay off for Netballers

-

HINCKLEY Academy year 9 netball squad finished off a successful season on a high this week as they were crowned South Leicestershire Tournament Champions.

This season has seen a jampacked fixture card for the squad playing local teams as well as traveling to Princethorpe College, Ratcliffe College and Rugby School to name a few.

PE teacher and netball coach Steph Cheney said: “I have been so pleased with the performance of both teams.

“The year 9 squad have played incredibly well this season, they show a real commitment to training and are determined to work hard to develop their game, they have a really strong bond and take great pride in representing Hinckley Academy.

“I am extremely proud of them and their achievements and winning this tournament has just ended the season nicely”.

The netball programme is extensive at Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre, with all teams, from years 7 to 13 playing regular matches against teams across Leicestershire and Warwickshire.

The teams also get the opportunity to watch action from the Netball Superleague with visits arranged to watch Wasps Netball in a few weeks.

Perhaps even more excitingly there is a netball and rugby tour of South Africa next summer, giving the girls a once in a lifetime opportunity to pit their skills against South African opposition, whilst also enjoying a cultural and educational experience.
