Indierockband set to go on a tour of the town
AN indie rock band from Hinckley is going on a mini tour of the town.
Sonic Boom has announced it will be doing three shows during April, after building up a following in the Midlands over the last two years through their concerts.
The five-piece musical group rehearses in Hinckley and specialises in hits from the 1990s.
Their two-hour set includes favourites from Cranberries, Green Day, Coldplay, REM and The Verve.
Originally starting more than 15 years ago, the band stopped while singer Rich- ard Chamberlain, guitarist Tim Steele and drummer Andy Beasley all got married and had children.
The reformed Sonic Boom includes new bass guitarist Simon Ward, who is also a presenter and reporter on BBC East Midlands Today.
He said: “Before I started a career in the media, I played in rock bands for a number of years.
“I really missed it and I was delighted to get involved in Sonic Boom.
“We’ve had some great gigs in the town in the last couple of years and we are at Rewind Rehearsal Studios in Hinckley most weeks getting ready for the next shows.”
Lead singer Richard Chamberlain is looking forward to the upcoming gigs.
He said: “Because we’ve got three dates close together anyone who loves live indie rock music will hopefully get the chance to join us for one of the nights we’re playing in Hinckley.
“People in the town have been brilliantly supportive when we’ve performed locally in the past and the songs we play from the 90s are really well received by some enthusiastic audiences.
You can see Sonic Boom in action at The Regent on April 7, The Black Horse on April 20 and at Ashby Road Sports Club on April 27.
The band is currently booking more dates in 2018.
