Town restaurant’s special Cinderella opera menu
THEATRE goers will be dining dramatically as an Italian restaurant in Hinckley puts on a special menu to coincide with an opera debut.
The Cinderella opera menu at Rossini in The Crescent will feature a Fairy Godmother pizza and a Strikes at Midnight tiramisu.
The eatery put together the menu to coincide with the Giachino Rossini opera’s first performance at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley.
Starters on the bespoke menu include a pumpkin soup, sliced beef fillet, truffle and cheese served with pane carasau, and a traditional Italian antipasto.
The fairy-themed pizza is topped with cherry tomatoes, basil and parma ham, while other mains include salmon in shortcrust pastry with strawberry sauce and duck with a citrus reduction.
The starring role goes to the Cinderella Pancake served with apple and cinnamon, while the tiramisu contains homemade coffee and mascarpone cream.
Final preparations for the romcom opera included fitting a professional wig for big personality Don Magnifico, stepfather to Cinderella, while most of the other costumes and wigs will be homemade.
French mezzo soprano Hélène Ducos from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is taking on the lead role.
The 19th century version of Cinderella scripted by Rossini stripped the tale of its magical elements, while the first renditions of the legendary story stretch back more than 2,000 years.
The special menu is running from Friday April 13 to April 21 from 5pm each day, with two courses for £16.90 or three courses for £19.90.
Ticket holders ordering off the a la carte menu will be eligible for a 10% discount on pre-performance meals from 5pm on show night.
The Cinderella performances are on April 13, April 17, April 19 and April 21, starting at 7.30pm.

The box office is open Monday to Friday from 10.30am to 12.30pm, on Saturday from 10am to noon and on Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm.
