More help for those in fuel poverty

-

HINCKLEY residents who are in fuel poverty could benefit from energy saving measures installed in their home.

Ellipse Energy have been chosen as the provider to fit the measures on behalf of Harborough Energy who are working with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, among others, to tackle fuel poverty.

Those who cannot warm their home at a reasonable cost are classed as being in fuel poverty and government funding has been made available to help out.

Cuan Forrest, managing director of Ellipse Energy, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Harborough Energy to offer energy efficiency measures to more people under this scheme.

“By installing products such as wall insulation, we can help people reduce their energy bills and consumption.”

Any resident who thinks they might be eligible for this funding should email energygrants@harboroughenergy.co.uk or call 01455 886881.

Under the new flexible eligibility scheme, local authorities will be able to refer more residents to suppliers such as Leices- ter-based Ellipse Energy, for support with measures such as wall or loft insulation.

Executive Member for Housing at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Cllr Peter Wallace expressed his pleasure in launching the scheme saying: “Too often in the past our hands have been tied and we have been unable to help our most vulnerable residents.

“This scheme will go a long way in ensuring households in the greatest need can benefit from the comfort and warmth that many of us take for granted.”
