Holders to defend title

THE final of the CS Constructi­on Junior Cup will be between Coalville Miners and Stanton United OB Reserves after a thrilling semi-final.

It was Stanton United’s First team who travelled to Coalville Town to face Miners and they took a first half lead when Josh Leadbetter scored from 30 yards just before the interval.

In a great second half, Miners equalised on 70 minutes and three minutes later took the lead.

With four minutes to go Kyle Olner drew Stanton level.

It was Miners though that snatched a winner at the end to give them the chance to defend the trophy they won last season.

In the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, Sporting Dynamo maintained their chances of retaining their title with a hard fought 3-2 win at Plough Inn Bruntingth­orpe. Sporting led 2-0 at the break but an injury hit Plough brought the game level at 2-2 with goals from Jamie Dexter and Kyle Sperry before Sporting took all three points with a goal at the death.

In the PWS Leicester Division One, Ullesthorp­e missed the chance to cement their spot in second place when they travelled to Sporting Dynamo Reserves and failed to score as the hosts held them to a gaolless draw.

FC Topps Reserves got the better of AFC Pubwatch with Connor Beasley leading the way with a hat-trick.

Jack Smith added a couple alongside goals from Ben Adams and Ian McKay in a 7-2 win.

In the Les Moore Memorial Trophy, AFC Barn booked their place in the final after a penalty shoot-out win against Anchor Inn.

Steve Billings and Matthew Wright score their goals in normal time before Barn won 4-2 in the shoot-out.

Stoke Golding moved closer to the title in the Printing Works Division Two as they took the points from a 3-0 win against Gravity FC.

Stoneycrof­t had Liam O’Rourke on target twice as they won their vital clash with Thurlaston Magpies in the race for second spot.

Danny Pickering scored the Stanton Reserves opener against TC Building but after leading at half time, Stanton collapsed in the second half anf TC hit back to win 5-1 with goals from Andrew Lewin (2), Corey Simons, Daniel Toone and Jack Whateley.
