Bosworth half marathon takes place this Sunday

Organisers hoping for bumper entry

-

THERE is still time to register for this weekend’s Bosworth Half Marathon which returns on Sunday (May 13).

With beautiful scenery and a fantastic atmosphere, the run has gone from strength to strength in recent years with hundreds now expected to turn out for the event.

Setting off from the Bosworth Water Trust at 10am, avid runners can enjoy the picturesque 13.1 mile countryside run.

A one-mile fun run is also being held in aid of Hinckley charity Keep The Beat, which supports families of infants diagnosed with heart disorders.

This year, the half marathon will also prove to be the first test of the Leicestershire Road Running League’s summer, so organisers are expecting an especially strong field.

A race spokesperson said: “We are very pleased to welcome the Leicestershire Road Running League.

”The Half is the first Summer League race for the League - we’re sure runners new to this great event will find it a very rewarding and enjoyable event.

“Our official charity Keepthebeat are pleased to continue the success of the one mile event, held entirely within Market Bosworth Water Park.

“This is a fantastic venue that has many on-site facilities - toilets, showers, shop, cafe, crazy golf, children’s play area as well as many water sports.”

The Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth will also be adding civic support and officially starting the race.

As well as the sponsors and hosts, the event is being backed by nutrition suppliers High 5, who will provide gels and drinks en route.

All finishers will also receive a medal and a Fyffes banana.

Meanwhile, D RE and AP Sports Massage will be on-site offering pre and post-run treatments and Hinckleybased Reilly Studios will be taking photographs throughout the day.

Course support is also being offered by Hinckley Air Cadets, Bosworth Scouts and The Badgers Running Club from Baddesley Ensor.
