Circus is on its way to nearby town

-

IT’S official: the ‘circus with a purpose’ is coming to town and it is completely free!

Circus Starr, a not-for-profit organisation boasting world-class, professional artists from across the globe, will be touring the UK until June 14 and it is stopping off in Tamworth on Sunday, May 13.

On its mission to reach as many children and their families as possible, Circus Starr will open at Tamworth Castle’s Pleasure Grounds with the show times of 2pm and 5pm.

Director Michelle Crossley said: “The barriers families face to accessing creative and cultural activities are many and varied. Some families simply can’t afford or have a child with a disability whose needs aren’t being met elsewhere.

“The atmosphere in our Big Top is warm, friendly and extremely relaxed. Children are encouraged to be themselves – shout out, move around, dance or take time out if they need to. We’re officially a tut-free zone!”

Circus Starr was first founded in 1987 and has worked with more than 70 charities that have benefited from more than £900,000 of additional funds raised over the past 12 years. It has worked with children’s hospices and hospitals, young carers, foster homes, schools, women’s refuges as well as a range of charities supporting vulnerable children.

Tickets are funded by local businesses looking to give back to the most overlooked in their communities and are pre-allocated to families who struggle to go to or enjoy a live performance because of their needs and circumstances. See www.circus-starr.org.uk for more information.
