Plant event for a good cause

-

ORGANISERS of the Burbage Plant Swap and Sale has chosen a charity to receive proceeds from the event.

The event for trading flowering and vegetable plants, shrubs and trees, will be raising funds for Canine Partners, which provides assistance dogs for physically disabled people.

All the plants are donated by local gardeners to support good causes, which have included Contact the Elderly, Dorothy Goodman School and Freestyle Burbage.

Sophie Tompkins of Burbage was partnered with her assistance dog Tresco last year.

She said: “Canine Partners is a cause very close to my heart.

“Now I have been partnered with my assistance dog my life has been trans- formed and I cannot express the massive difference Tresco has made to me.

“For the first time in years I have some independence, freedom and stability back, and as a young adult this means the world to me.

“Canine partners transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with amazing assistance dogs giving them greater independence and quality of life by offering security, companionship and practical help with everyday household tasks.”

The plant swap and sale is on May 26 from 10am to 1pm at 8 Featherston Drive in Burbage.

Organiser Mike George can be contacted by email at mike@georgemail. me or on 07455 123883.
