Pop in the Park festival returns

-

DON’T WORRY, be happy, Pop In The Park is back - and back in its traditional setting - as part of Market Bosworth Festival 2018.

Hosted by Hinckley and Market Bosworthbased JAM Music Schools, Sunday June 10 will see the event back in Market Bosworth Country Park after a year at an alternative venue.

Described by organisers as like a “mini Glastonbury”, festival goers will have the chance to rock almost around the clock, from 11am until 6pm.

Free to enter, with a small car parking charge for those arriving on wheels, Pop-goers will be able to come and go all day, making use of the park’s facilities and a host of refreshment stalls set up especially for the occasion.

Up to 100 pupils of JAM Music Schools, which runs sessions in guitar, bass, drums and vocals in Hinckley and Market Bosworth, will be taking to the stage between 11am and 1pm, in various band lineups and as part of a rock choir backed by JAM’s own music tutors.

Aged from six to more than 10 times that, the JAM pupils’ slot set-list will include the Bobby McFerrin classic as well as Ed Sheeran’s Perfect, Pink’s What About Us and Rain by The Script.

Entertainment will then be provided by artists from around the area: Teenage rock band Undercover; solo vocalists Chantel Harvey and Justice Beach; duo Hairy Badgers; blues rock bands Chance Remark and Stonewall; funk and soul showband Atlantic 54; rock, pop and blues four-piece The Boodons; and popular rock covers band Stoneage Mushrooms.

JAM Music Schools proprietor Dave Carter said: “I’m proud to say JAM Music Schools has been involved in the organisation of Pop In The Park for Market Bosworth Festival for more than ten years.

“This year we have another exciting programme of local performers including the Sing! Rock Choir which will be on stage with live backing from the JAM tutor band.

“Pop In The Park provides a fabulous opportunity for local people to showcase their talents and it’s free.”

Market Bosworth Festival chairman Liz AlunJones said: “Pop in the Park is a great way to hear new young musical talent on a big stage near you.

“It is a relaxed, lively and friendly musical treat and there is plenty going on in the town to entertain the whole family.”

On the same day as Pop In The Park, Market Bosworth Festival will be hosting a photography exhibition, an art exhibition and studio trail, and a visiting display called The Famous Fifty.

The display will be commemorating the first 50 volunteers from the Coalville area to join up to serve their country in the First World War in 1914.

A scarecrow trail organised by St Peter’s Primary Academy will also be in full swing.
