Jamie Vardy is a star who deserves World Cup trip

-

I think it is time to congratulate our own Jamie Vardy. Since being discovered he has grown - with a lot of expert help - into a class striker.

He has scored some unbelievable goals - notably those hit on the volley which were spectacular. He has been leading scorer, played for England, and scored goals in that company too, and will surely play in the World Cup.

At times this season he has been a lone figure up front and yet he’s still scoring goals. He never stops running and you can never fault him for lack of effort. His supply of passes dried up somewhat when Kante and Drinkwater left to Chelsea. It is to be hoped, firstly that he stays here and secondly that the Manager, wherever he may be, find the right service from midfield and/or a co-striker of worth. Retaining Mahrez would also be a big help but that seems unlikely.

Just as impressive Jamie has conducted himself with good humour and dignity off the field, always ready with a laugh, very likeable in interviews, and not slow in putting something back into football with his Academy at Manchester City which attracted lots of promising young players and interested managers.

One can only imagine - in one of the Leagues top 2 or 3 teams just how many goals he may have scored in the last few seasons.

Congratulations Jamie on your part in helping to bring great pleasure to many fans and increased status to Leicester City, and in doing so bringing a rise in the status of Jamie Vardy. My grandsons think he’s magic!
