Children’s play area targeted by sick vandals again

-

A VILE act of vandalism desecrated a children’s play area in Desford as a delinquent pooed on a toy used by toddlers.

Parents and their youngsters were unable to access the blue and red bird-shaped rocker in Pickard’s Park after it was filthied with faeces for the second time in a month.

This latest sample of human waste is thought to have been deposited on the edge of the seat on May 27.

Red and white tape was placed around the scene of the crime while a clean up of the four-inch long stool was co- ordinated.

PC Robert Cross of Market Bosworth Police wrote on social media: “Parents with small children. Please avoid Pickard’s Park.

“We’ve had another incident where someone has used the toddler play apparatus as a toilet.”

The officer - who cleaned up the previous deposit himself with wet wipes - told the Leicester Mercury: “All we know is that this is the second report. “There are no suspects yet.” PC Cross said officers were “very keen to speak to any wit- nesses”.

He added: “Please report groups of youths on the park if they are causing anti-social behaviour.”

It has been suggested that the perpetrator could be traced through DNA, but this idea has been dismissed.

A representative of the force stated such evidence could not be retrieved from faecal matter.

The spokesperson stated that even if it were possible to carry out such a test, the expense would not be jusitifiable.

PC Cross, who has worked as a police officer for 10 years, posted online a video of himself condemning the first mess, on May 19.

The dedicated officer was highly praised for his actions to tackle the previous deposit.

He said at the time: “I’ve seen some things, done some things.

“It’s reached a new low tonight.

“I can cope with the mess in the form of a pizza box and the pizza thrown around Pickard’s Park in Desford. “I can deal with that. “I suppose it happens. I can pick it up. I suppose it happens – young people, older people. I don’t know who it is, but it happens.

“What I can’t cope with human waste.

The second occurrence has been widely condemned on social media.

It has been described as “disgusting” while the person behind the act has been called “vile”.

One person asked: “What is wrong with people?”

The mess was set to be cleared by Desford Parish Council, after police referred the incident to the authority by the local beat officers. is
