Community cash sends girls to camp
YOUNGSTERS in Hinckley have been able to attend a summer camp thanks to a housing developer.
1st Hinckley Girls Brigade has been awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes North Midlands as part of the housebuilder’s Community Champions initiative which match-funds local groups and charities.
The group, for girls aged 5-18, are going on a camping trip to Beaudesert Activity Centre, where they will take part in team-building activities and exploring new experiences.
Jackie Hurst, from the group, said: “We are so grateful to Persimmon Homes North Midlands for their kind donation – it means we’ll be able to have a fantastic camping trip.
“We don’t want any of the girls to miss out on the camping opportunity and Persimmon’s donation means they won’t be – the girls are really looking forward to the trip.”
The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We are proud to support the 1st Hinckley Girls Brigade and hope that they enjoy their camping trip.
“The group is a valuable part of the community and offers so much to its members and their families.
“Persimmon Homes North Midlands has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always quite a challenging to choose from so many worthwhile causes.
“If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again, hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
