Lucky escape for smash driver

-

A DRIVER injured her head in a road traffic collision between Earl Shilton and Elmesthorpe.

Fortunately the woman’s head injury was minor and she was able to go home without going to hospital after the incident, involving two vehicles on Station Road.

Police closed the northbound side of the road towards Elmesthorpe from the junction with the A47 Clickers Way while they dealt with the two-vehicle incident, on the evening of May 24.

Recovery of the vehicles was delayed by half an hour as a front suspended recovery truck attended despite officers requesting a flatbed, with the road fully closed as recovery took place.

PCSO Adam Cartwright gave some advice in his last Facebook live video of the incident, recorded by PCSO Shannon Hughes as he drove away from the incident.

He said: “It could have gone a lot worse, so please be mindful in the warm weather with the hot roads if the water hits it, it’s going to make it greasy.

“Especially at that particular area as well, with it being a humpback bridge, you cannot see what is coming over it.

“Please be mindful although it’s a 40mph you do need to go a little bit underneath so that you can see what’s going in due course.

“I hope everyone else has had a pleasant evening, we’re now going to go and finish off some paperwork and cease duty.”
