Dogs welcome at town eatery

- NICHOLAS DAWSON nicholas.dawson@reachplc.com

THE HOT dogs have landed at a Hinckley fried chicken shop as it launches a new menu.

The classic sausages in buns are among a host of new treats at Louisianna Chicken in The Crescent, including a Dirty Dog option with cheese sauce and crispy bacon bits and a Chilli Dog with chilli con carne and cheese.

The shop is introducing three specials available for a month as part of the revamp, to be replaced each month with three fresh dishes.

Kris Godden, one of the shop managers, said: “Myself and the head chef have completely redone the menu.

“We wanted to keep chicken at the core because that’s what we do best, but we wanted to provide other things that people wanted.

“People have commented positively about the hot dogs and the gluten free options have been really popular, which has been really surprising.”

Gluten free wraps are part of the fresh menu, with a new BBQ Wrap with chicken breast, cheese, slaw and house BBQ sauce, and a Vegi Wrap of Cajun tofu, spinach, onion, tomato and aioli.

Staff are also working on a gluten free coating for the chicken pieces.

A chicken nuggets option was added to the children’s menu.

Burger lovers can tuck into the new bunless Mother Marisa Muddle, made of chicken and potato hash, doused in cheese sauce and served on a bed of greens with sweet potato fries, with a vegetarian hash available.

Milkshake fans are spoilt for choice with Special Shakes including Biscoff, Toffee and McVities Gold Bar, as well as newly invented Angel Shakes, made with classic dessert Angel Delight, available in Strawberry or Butterscotch.

Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate and Oreo shakes are also available.

The shop has also become part the Hinckley BID and is offering discounts for members.

Fitness fan Kriss, who previously worked at Costa in The Crescent, said he wants to introduce more protein-rich and healthy options to Louisianna’s offering.

The three specials until June 18 are Dirty Fried Chicken, with melted cheese inside chicken pieces; Chicken Fried Hot Dog, a hot dog served with popcorn chicken, and a Twisted Carbonara of chicken pieces served with a carbonara sauce and bacon bits.

Each is £7.50 and comes with fries.

The chicken shop opened at the start of February and was set up by entrepreneur Joanna Kirk, who reached the interviews stage of Series Six of the Apprentice.
