Family fun dog show makes return at fete
FOUR-LEGGED friends will be out in force at Cadeby fete as the village’s popular family fun dog show is set to make a much-requested return.
Spread across two adjoining sites on Main Street, fete-goers will be able to wander the grounds of neighbouring properties The Limes and Manor Farm, with on-site car parking keeping all activity areas safely away from the road.
There will be a traditional tea garden with live music at The Limes, and Pimm’s, strawberries and cream, stalls, games and sideshows on the lawn at Manor Farm.
The dog show, which is open to all, will have its own enclosure, and there will also be a children’s dancing demonstration.
Well-behaved dogs will be welcome around the fete grounds, whether or not they enter the show, but owners are asked to keep them on leads at all times and to pick up after them.
Home-made cakes, plants and garden sundries, clothes, jewellery, books and bric-a-brac will all be for sale, alongside a tombola and other traditional games.
A raffle will offer prizes donated by businesses from around the area.
Admission remains at £1 for adults, with children free, and allows access to both sites, all activities and includes car parking.
All money raised will be used towards the preservation and maintenance of Cadeby’s parish church of All Saints.
The church is well-known for its former vicar, the late Rev Teddy Boston, who was the inspiration for the character of The Fat Clergyman in the Thomas the Tank Engine books.
It will be open throughout the day for anyone wishing to spend time there and includes information about the Rev Boston and his Thomas the Tank Engine links.
Saturday July 28 is the date for your dogs’ diaries, when fundraising festivities for the parish church of All Saints will get underway at 2pm.
