Village royalty all set for big day
Stoney Stanton will be changed into a seaside resort on Saturday
STONEY Stanton is to transform into a seaside resort as part of this year’s carnival festivities on Saturday.
The Stanton By The Sea procession will feature a record 14 floats, with lorries to be decorated as ice cream vans and to take on the livery of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a Stanton Pier.
On the carnival field families can enjoy Farmageddon, an outdoor lasertag experience, as well as mini go-karts.
The Blaby District Reality Bus will be offering a range of games for older children and in action will be the popular land train, donkey rides, bouncy castle and slide and sumo suits.
TKT Cheerleading will be performing for the first time this year in the main arena and Manorfield Voices from Manorfield Primary School will be doing a set, as well as Lutterworth Town Band.
Little ‘n’ Large Events will also provide music, with Stoney Stanton Community Library selling books, games and DVDs, while many other village groups will have stalls and games for visitors to enjoy.
Face painting, bottle tombola, a tin stall and a giant deck chair will also be part of the day’s events
Refreshments will include the Women’s Institute stall selling sandwiches and cakes, jacket potatoes, hot dogs supplied by the 1st Stoney Stanton Scouts and ice creams.
Carnival queen Autumn Rogerson will lead the procession which starts at 1pm on Saturday June 9, along with princesses Isla Gilby and Eleanor Cooper, attendants Tamzin Prescott and Aoife Gilby and page boys Dylan Temple-Roe and Liam Payne.
Roads through Stoney Stanton will be closed from 1pm until approximately 1.45pm.
The carnival procession will leave The Fleet at 1pm. Roads affected are Huncote Road, Long Street, Broughton Road, New Road, Station Road and Hinckley Road.
All minor roads leading onto these main roads will also be temporarily affected.
Drivers through the village can expect very short delays while the parade is in progress.
