Rock festival heading to city this summer

A BRAND new rock festival is coming to the East Midlands this summer.

Leicester Rocks is a nine-hour one day bash at Leicester Arena on Saturday, August 18, featuring King King, FM and The Brew among others.

“As this is our first rock infused festival in Leicester, we wanted to capitalise on the superb facilities available at the Arena and deliver a mix of sounds that showcases rock music in a range of different styles,” said John Brown from organisers Solid Entertainm­ents.

“With King King, one of the biggest names in the UK headlining, the renowned FM plus seven other very different, but striking acts in the line-up, this will undoubtedl­y be a great festival and one live music event not to miss in the region.”

Glasgow band King King have been dubbed “the best bluesrock band in the world” (Blues Rock Review), credited for “setting the blues world on fire” (Classic Rock), nominated for Best New Band at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour and handed back-to-back British Blues Awards.

They’ve also toured with Thunder and John Mayall in a career spanning four albums.

Others booked to appear include FM, The Brew, Sari Schorr, Aaron Keylock, Xander And The Peace Pirates, Bad Touch, Gin Annie and Hollowstar. Food and drink, including real ales, will be available on the day.

Doors open at 1.30 pm with the bands on from 2pm to 11pm.
