From May 2019, the company will operate a weekly Tuesday service to Bourgas, meaning almost 8,000 seats in its first year of operation from East Midlands Airport.
Stanislav Yevetski, the Bulgarian actor best known for his role as Victor Krum in Harry Potter, supported the launch to his home country, Bulgaria.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays also announced that a larger Boeing 737-800 aircraft will come into the fleet to support growth during the peak season at East Midlands Airport, and there will be more flights and holidays to destinations such as the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain, the Algarve, and Turkey.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We are extremely excited about our Summer 19 programme from East Midlands Airport, which is our biggest and best to date.
“The addition of flights to Bourgas means we will operate to Bulgaria for the first time, and with resorts such as Sunny Beach on sale, we are expecting it be hugely popular with local holidaymakers.”
Heidi Barlow, East Midlands Airport’s head of marketing, said: “Jet2. com’s new route from EMA to Bourgas provides passengers from across the East Midlands and further afield yet more choice. With brand new routes and a wider selection of flights, Summer 2019 is already shaping up to be a great year.”
