WHETHER you fancy trying your hand at welly wanging, or you feel like dancing in the Mead or being showered in rainbows of paint, there is plenty to do in Hinckley this June.

Many town centre favourites, including the Colourfun Run Mile and Music in the Mead performanc­es, are returning for summer, so be sure to pop the dates in your diary so you don’t miss out.

Here is everything that will be taking place in the town centre this month:

Wednesday 6th Argents Mead, Hinckley 7pm-8.30pm Colourfun Mile One of the most colourful and fun events of the year returns to Hinckley for its fifth year. This year’s Colourfun Mile, held in aid of LOROS, is open to all ages and is set to shower everyone in multicolou­red powder paint, smiles, laughter and bubbles! Friday 8th Mary Forryan Centre, St Peter`s Church, Leicester

Road, 7.30pm An evening with… Guests are being invited to enjoy an evening with antiques expert Charles Hanson.

Tickets cost £10 each from Hinckley and District Museum, and are also available at the door.

Tickets can be reserved via email to hinckleymu­seum@ hotmail.co.uk. The event is held in aid of the museum’s Building Appeal Fund.

Saturday 9th Argents Mead, 11.30am12.30pm Storytelli­ng in the Mead Round up the family, pack a picnic and settle down to enjoy short stories told by the entertaini­ng ‘Tom the Tale Teller’. Free admission.

Sunday 10th The Borough, Hinckley, 10am-2pm Sunday Munch Market Foodies and craft lovers alike can enjoy the third ever Sunday Munch, with lots of favourites expected to line-up. There will be at least 26 stalls to enjoy, with vendors selling hot and cold food, crafts and collectibl­es.

Previous markets have seen residents enjoy cupcakes, freshly-baked breads, artisan coffee and woodwork.

Saturday 9th Argents Mead Bandstand, Hinckley, 1pm-3pm Music in the Mead Hinckley’s popular Music in the Mead returns once more for the summer. This latest performanc­e features the talented Ella-May Stanier, who plays contempora­ry pop and soul covers. Admission is free.

Friday 15th The Art Cafe, Castle Street, Hinckley, 7pm

Quiz Night Join The Art Cafe for a night of fun and quizzing. Tickets cost £15.00 and include a drink upon arrival, a fish and chip supper (or an alternativ­e), cakes and biscuits and quiz entry.

Prizes for the top three teams.

Entrants are welcome to join as a team of four, or join a team on the night.

Saturday 16th Argents Mead, Hinckley,

11am-2pm Traditiona­l Sports Day Become the welly wanging champion of Hinckley, an egg and spoon expert, or take part in the three-legged race – everyone is welcome to attend and there are trophies and prizes to be won.

Enter as a family, as a business or as a group of friends. More details on social media nearer to the time.

Admission is free.

Tuesday 19th -Saturday 23rd Concordia Theatre, Stockwell Head, Hinckley The Phantom of the Opera Hinckley Amateur Youth Group presents this spectacula­r musical, based on the classic novel. Phantom tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it.

Tuesday 19th and Tuesday 26th Ten2 Gallery, Castle Street, 10am-12pm Drawing and Painting With One Colour Budding artists will be taken through a variety of creative results with just one, venetian red watercolou­r pencil. The class will include skin tones and the human form: mark making when drawing landscapes. Tickets cost £20. Wednesday 20th The Green Rooms, St Mary’s Road, Hinckley, 10am-12pm Joining Forces Coffee Morning The Leicesters­hire-wide armed forces project led by Age UK, Joining Forces, brings its coffee morning for veterans and ex-servicemen/women to Hinckley. The mornings will be held on the third Wednesday of every month and brings together older veterans, their spouses, carers, widows and widowers.

Thursday 21st

Market Place, Hinckley. Entrance from Station Road,

5pm-8.30pm Hinckley BID’s Classic

Vehicle Meet Car lovers and classic car owners are being invited to attend this ever-popular event, which takes place on the third Thursday of each month throughout summer.

Anyone with a classic vehicle or any vehicle of special interest who would like to pop along is welcome, while spectators can also enjoy the array of cars on display – close to 140 vehicles turned up to the year’s first meet in May.

Saturday 23rd Argents Mead Bandstand, Hinckley, 1pm-3pm Music in the Mead Enjoy a foot-tapping performanc­e in the bandstand by Out of Gas, who play covers from the fifties to the present day which are guaranteed to get you dancing. Admission is free. Saturday 30th Hinckley Town Centre, from 11am Armed Forces Day Event and Parade Listen to an outdoor church service in Argents Mead followed by a parade to thank and honour past and present serving armed forces. In partnershi­p with the borough council, Hinckley Combined Ex-Services Associatio­n and St Mary’s Church.

Saturday 30th St. Mary’s Church, Hinckley, 7.30pm SMARTS (St. Mary’s Arts) Gala Concert Listen to the sounds of The King and Rackham Duo (David King, Piano and Andrew Rackham, Violin) and Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre Performing Arts students. An evening ranging from light classical music to tangos and waltzes and selections from musical theatre.

Proceeds to St. Mary’s Church ‘Porch Door Automation Fund’ and Hinckley Foodbank.

Tickets cost £9 (on the door) or £7 when bought in advance at the Church Coffee Bar. Children and students are £5. Prices include interval refreshmen­ts.
