Classic meet is revving up
MOTOR lovers enjoyed an evening of sunshine and close to 140 vintage vehicles at this year’s first Hinckley BID Classic Vehicle Meet.
The meetings are held in Hinckley town centre on the third Thursday of each month from May until August, and bring together vintage car owners and their impressive motors.
Spectators also gather at the meetings to admire the vehicles on display in the town.
At the first meet-up held in mid-May, visitors were able to enjoy an abundance of classic vehicles as they lined up in Market Place.
There were also some impressive bikes and scooters too, and even a trike.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday June 21, with other meetings confirmed for Thursday July 19 and Thursday August 16.
The ever-popular BID Classic Motorshow will also return with a bang on Sunday September 16 from 10am to 4.30pm.
Martina Smullen from Hinckley BID, said of the classic car meet-up: “There was beautiful sunshine on the evening of our first Classic Vehicle Meet, and everyone thor- oughly selves.
“Normally the first meet of the year attracts about 40-50 vehicles.
“However, there were almost 140 in attendance on this occasion, which is really impressive.
“There were also many families in town to enjoy the event, and some businesses and cafes took the opportunity to open late for trading, so there was a lovely atmosphere in the town.
“We can’t wait for our remaining three classic meets, and we would love to welcome even more vehicles and spectators to join us in June!
“In the meantime, prep- enjoyed them- arations are well underway as we gear up to the grand finale - our BID Classic Motorshow (including vehicles of special interest) - in Septem- ber.
“The UK’s biggest and best town centre show.
“We are expecting visitors from across the country for what is always one of the most Hinckley town events of the year.”
