Another big win for Amateurs
AMATEURS had another comprehensive win over Countesthorpe at the weekend.
Skipper Ash Harrison won the toss and put in the opposition.
Countesthorpe who were promoted with the Amateurs last season got off to a steady start before a superb caught and bowled by Harrison, and the introduction of James Axon with 3 quick wickets, put the visitors on the back foot.
The ball of the day was bowled by Harrison to get rid of the dangerous Ben Sharpe. This led to a collapse and suddenly the score had gone to 69-9.
An enterprising last stand between Rich Looms and Joe Hawker of 32 got them to a bonus point before Mick Butterworth took the final wicket, Harrison finishing with a 6-28 and Axon 3-14
Openers Jason Tipping and James Axon saw the Amateurs to tea without loss. Tipping went for 22 just after but Shoib Dadu had an unbeaten 17 and Axon was unbeaten on a fine 56 as the Amateurs got home by 9 wickets with 20 overs to spare. This keeps them top of the table
Amateurs 2nd poor run of form continued as they travelled to a local derby against Market Bosworth.
Amateur batsmen never looked comfortable as they totalled a disappointing 87 with Kenny Burke the only batsman to hit double figures with 29.
Amateur bowled reasonably well but with such a small target to defend they went down by 6 wickets with Paul Ensor picking up 2.
