Grenade handed in

-

THE town police station had to close after a member of the public walked in to hand over a grenade.

The incident happened at Hinckley police station, in Upper Bond Street, on Friday.

The station revealed there had been a brief closure “due to a hand grenade being handed in”.

One of the officers said on the social media site: “Some of the things we receive over the counter are astonishing.

“A few years ago we had someone come in and tell us they didn’t know what it was, but believed it was some form of weapon so wanted to pass it to us.

“It was a claymore (a type of landmine).”
