Behaviour improving

-

ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour has declined in Hinckley thanks to the work of police and the borough council.

Officers said reports of incidents had dropped, with warning letters and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts given to more than 20 young people found causing disturbances.

Hinckley Police said in a post on its Facebook page: “Largely these young people have responded well to low level intervention.”

Two people were found guilty of an assault in the town centre at the end of March, with both receiving referral orders and ordered to pay £200 and £100 in compensation respectively, as well as court costs.

Another young person received conditional caution after they set fire to a wooden playhouse in Argents Mead installed just 18 months before, causing around £10,000 of damage.

Police were quickly able to identify the culprit and were given CCTV footage from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s extensive town centre camera network.

The post said: “Over the school holidays, local officers will be on patrol across the town centre.

“If you see them, please feel free to stop them and discuss any other local issues you may have.”
