Moderate Labour supporters are being used by Corbyn

-

I have watched with growing dismay the number of supposedly level headed Labour members and parliamentary candidates, trying to defend the current Labour Party leadership. I’m especially surprised at Chris Kealey.

Having served for 40 years in the armed forces myself, I just cannot understand his denial of Corbyn’s support for terrorism. Maybe he could explain two things to me. Firstly, I’m sure he will agree that the only people “fighting” for a united Ireland were republican terrorist cells like the IRA, PIRA, INLA etc. So why, when Corbyn attended a meeting of the Wolfe Tone society in May 1987, where over 200 members of Sinn Fein/IRA were commemorating eight terrorists killed by the SAS when they tried to attack a police station, did Corbyn say “I am happy to honour all those who have died “fighting” for a united Ireland”?

Secondly, Labour (particularly Seamus Milne their Director of Communication) have been trying to prove that Corbyn was actually helping the peace process rather than supporting Sinn Fein/IRA. Why then, according to recently released archives from Sinn Fein/IRA, did Corbyn meet with Gerry Adams, Martin McGuiness and other members of Sinn Fein/IRA on 72 different occasions in the 1980s, including allowing them to use a “room above his constituency office”.

And yet, he never met ONCE (to discuss his so called “talks” with Sinn Fein), with the NI Secretary (Labour or Conservative), representatives of the Irish Government, the US Special envoy, the SDLP, members of the Unionists community – all actively involved in the eventual peace process?

Finally, to address the antisemitism. One only had to watch the debate on antisemitism on BBC Parliament to see how deep it runs in the Labour Party. Labour member after member gave moving and stark details of abuse they had received from leftwing supporters of their own party. So much so, that Corbyn actually got up and left the debate. I’m afraid people like Mr Kealey and other moderate Labour supporters, are being used by the hard left to “soften” the past misdemeanours of the current Labour leadership - and so desperate is their need to have Labour in power, they are happy to go along with the obfuscations being promulgated by Milne and his office.
