Dog training club to put on display at show

MEMBERS of Nuneaton Dog Training Club are to put on a dog obedience display which includes a dog packing its own suitcase at this year’s Market Bosworth Show.

Gloria Bonnell, who leads the display team and spent several years previously as a team member, said: “The team of 12 dogs is chosen to show that a variety of breeds can be trained and that dogs with different levels of experience can take part. This year the team includes two boxers, a bulldog and a Yorkshire terrier as well as the more traditiona­l collies. The display features a beach scene which includes a dog packing a suitcase and others playing ball and having fun in the sand.”

Nuneaton Dog Training Club, which celebrates 60 successful years in 2019, has supported Market Bosworth Country Show regularly with displays and activities.

‘A trained dog is a happy dog’ is the club’s motto .

There will also be a fun dog show at Market Bosworth Show. Entries are on the day and cost just £1 per dog per class. There are 10 classes including the best trick, handsomest dog, most wagged tail and the dog the judge would most like to take home.

This year’s Market Bosworth Show charity is assistance dogs charity Canine Partners putting dogs at the centre of the event.

Market Bosworth Show takes place on Sunday July 1 at Cow Pastures Farm, The Park, Market Bosworth. Adult tickets are £8 on the day. Family tickets are £20 on the day. There are reductions for advance bookings.

The same organisati­on which runs Market Bosworth Show is organising a music and games evening later this month. Market Bosworth Agricultur­al, Horticultu­ral and Equestrian Society is putting on the event on Friday June 29 in aid of the Royal Agricultur­al Benevolent Institutio­n. The institutio­n helps working and retired farmers and farm workers.

The Fantoms will play songs from the 1960s in the members marquee at the Market Bosworth Country Showground.

Starting at 7.30pm there will be music and games plus a roast beef supper. Tickets are £12.50 (£6.00 for children 10 and under). Tickets are available from Helen Earp phone 01455 290489 or email
