Open gardens in Thornton in aid of village church
YOU may well know Thornton for walks around the reservoir, but why not come and explore the village at their Open Gardens Event?
Fifteen gardens will be open on Sunday June 17 from 1pm until 6pm for you to enjoy.
There will be a variety of stalls and attractions at the different locations, as well as cream teas at the Community Centre and a hedgehog hunt at each garden for young children.
The event is to raise funds for the maintenance of the medieval village church, St Peter’s, which will also be open to visitors.
Head to the Community Centre on Main Street (LE67 8NR) or the church to pick up your programme to start your tour.
You could even combine it with a walk at the reservoir - over two thirds of the gardens will be open to well-behaved dogs on leads.
Cost is £3 per person with accompanied children free.
