Poor start to season for town

HINCKLEY’S woeful season continued on Saturday when they lost at home by 4 wickets to Kibworth 2nds.

They are now 26 points from safety rooted 2nd from the bottom of the table.

Hinckley won the toss and chose to bat and they got off to a good start with openers Parmar and Pinto Patel putting on 84 for the first wicket at which point Parmar was caught of the bowling of Norton for 38.

Two runs later Patel was out off the bowling of Spiers for 40.

They then lost Manish with the score on 108, but an entertaini­ng 4th wicket stand of 59 between Valand and Khan took Hinckley on 157.

Khan was out stumped for 36 and 2 runs later Valand was run out for 9 leaving Hinckley 159 for 5.

Captain Raj Sen with help from Jussab saw the hosts onto 190 when Sen was bowled by M Patel for 19.

Hinckley finished on 204 for 8 after their 45 overs.

Kibworth used 7 bowlers M Patell being the most successful with 3 for 23 from 5 overs.

During the tea break it rained and Kibworth’s target was reduced to 184 off 38 overs.

This was reduced again when more rain came during the innings leaving Kibworth to get 172 of 35 overs.

Kibworth lost their first wicket with the score on 25 when M Patel was bowled by Rav Singh for 15.

Raja Hayat and Rickesh Patel were going well but Hayat had to retire hurt which brought in Luke Spence who was bowled by Raj Sen for 15 leaving Kibworth 79 for 2 after 15 overs

Kibworth were always up with the required run rate and a stand of 52 between Patel and Harry Pounds more or less sealed the game for them.

Although they lost 4 more wickets they finished on 174 for 6 after 33.1 overs.

Rickesh Patel remained 86 not out. Kibworth gained 25 points to Hinckley’s 11. Next week they visit Loughborou­gh Town 2nds which is a must win game.
