Summer workshops planned at town gallery and art studio
BUDDING and experienced artists are being invited to put their skills to the test at a series of summer workshops.
The Ten2 Gallery and Art Studio, based on Upper Castle Street in Hinckley, is hosting the workshops, which include depicting pets in pictures and watercolour landscapes.
Depicting animals in pictures will be held on Fridays June 29 and July 6 from 10am-12pm by Claire Botterill, who will show artists how to successfully get the shape, colour, position and movement of animals in pictures.
Classes cost £20.
On Mondays July 9 and 16, Rose Allinson, who runs the gallery, will be hosting a watercolour landscapes workshop from 7pm until 9pm. Artists will be able to produce at least nine landscapes and all materials will be provided. Tickets cost £30.
On Saturday July 14 from 1.30pm until 4.30pm, Phiona Richards will be taking a class in how to make a simple leather book wrap. Tickets cost £35. Drawing with pens will take centre stage on Monday July 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm with Rose. Tickets cost £30.
A workshop in creating with torn paper - making collages - will be held on Saturday July 28 from 10am until 4pm with Danielle Vaughan, who was recently featured on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year. Tickets cost £55.
Artists will be invited to get creative with lampshades on Tuesday August 7 and Wednesday August 8 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. Tickets cost £30 and include materials and a small lampshade to decorate.
On Saturday August 11, you can try your hand at bookmaking using the Japa- nese stab binding techniques, or you can create your own personalised photo textile jewellery.
Botanical painting will be the focus of a workshop on Wednesday August 15 and Thursday August 16, held by Kate Nuttall. Tickets will cost £25.
Creatives will be able to make still life pictures using oil paints on Saturday August 18 from 10am-4pm for £55, and on Wednesday August 22 and Thursday August 23, there will be mosaic workshops.
