Countryside show returns to Beacon Hill Country Park

-

FAMILIES are invited to visit an iconic country park as an action-packed event makes its return.

Leicestershire County Council’s Countryside Show is returning for its third year at Beacon Hill Country Park on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August.

Last year, more than 5,000 people visited the popular show, which features a unique line-up balancing the very best of countryside life and a food marketplace where you can taste some of the very best freshly crafted local produce.

Joining the bill this year is a dog agility display from ‘Paws for Thought’, a threshing machine demonstration from the Vale of Belvoir Machinery Group and live honey bee demonstrations from Leicestershire & Rutland Beekeepers Association.

Councillor Richard Blunt, cabinet member for heritage leisure and arts, said: “We aim to build on the success of last year’s show and will provide a family-friendly event for people of all ages to enjoy the delights of the countryside.

‘’We’re looking forward to welcoming people to the beautiful setting of Beacon Hill for an even bigger, better bank holiday day out.’’

This year will see more than 100 exhibitors including a large craft marquee which will be filled with handmade goods and products, as well as a range of practical demonstrations.

The show also welcomes back the Extreme Mountain Bike Show, chainsaw carving and bird-of-prey demonstrations alongside music and a wealth of children’s activities such as tree climbing, Shetland ponies and the climbing wall.

There will also be an auction finale for visitors to bid on some of the exhibitors’ show-stopping creations.

The event will run from 9.30am to 5pm, with tickets available to buy in advance or on the gate.

Early birds tickets with a 30 per cent saving are available online until midday Saturday, 25 August. These tickets are £8 for adults, £6 for concessions and £24 for a family ticket.

Ticket prices include show entry, children’s activities, car parking and an event programme.
