High-scoring game ends Amateurs’ winning streak

THERE were runs galore as Amateurs lost their unbeaten streak to Ibstock in a 600 run thriller at Ashby Road.

Amateurs made first use of a good batting strip as they totalled 305-5. Jason Tipping’s good form in recent weeks saw him achieve his maiden century as he was bowled for exactly 100.

Ed Proctor with a typical aggressive 51 Alan York 47 and Shoib Dadu 19 gave good support, Ollie Winder, Andy Wainscott and Jamie Harris-Ensor hit out towards the end of the innings as the last 10 overs were thrashed for Over 100 runs.

Ibstock where not perturbed by their big target, a couple of half chances went down but Robert Oliver with 84 and Tom Oliver with 77 led their reply as they got home with 6 wickets in hand. Skipper Ash Harrison switched bowlers to try and get a breakthrou­gh but the Ibstock batsmen paced their innings perfectly to inflict the Amateurs first defeat of the season.

Amateur 2nd beat there Ibstock counterpar­ts by 9 wick- ets, Steve Proctor with 4-42, Matt Smith 3-18 and Sashi Kumar with 3-30 restricted the home side to 138 all out.

Steve Mustin and Ben Smith put on a hundred partnershi­p, Smith finished unbeaten on 53 as he and Stuart Garry with an unbeaten 15 got the Amateurs home with a comprehens­ive victory.

Amateur 3rd had there best result of the season at Hathern Old. Good fielding and tight bowling by all the bowlers restricted the village side to 158. Richard Stanford with 34 got the innings off to a good start then a superb unbeaten 85 from Sam Rowe and Haj Gill with an unbeaten 55 saw the Amateurs home by 8 wickets.
