THERE’S no stopping Daniel Eaton who recorded his fifth successive win in his remarkable run in Lychgate Fisheries Sunday Open matches. Daniel recorded his best weight, a massive 148lb from peg 52, all taken on pole fished pellet. Mark Sidwell finished second with a 75lb 2oz catch from peg 13. Colin Chapman was third with 51lb 10ozs while Paul T Twigger weighed 44b 4ozs to finish fourth.

Shackersto­ne’s Tuesday Evening members contest turned into a bream fest as Dave Callaghan led the way with a very respectabl­e 7lb 4oz catch. Fished from the horse & Jockey bridge to the Populars, small bream featured in all the catches. Dave Gill and Roger Pickering shared second place both weighing 4lb 10ozs.

Barwell’s Mill Street Motors Darren Walters was a holiday “stand in” on Sundays Mansfield Summer League contest at Makin’s Fishery in Wolvey. Those taking part wished that it was Darren on holiday as he took the honours with a 148lb catch from peg 8 on the Crater. Fishing both margins Darren pole fished sweet corn to catch fish through out the day, but a good last hour when he put 68lbs of carp in to his net gave him the verdict.

Higham Lane’s Saturday Open match was won by Andy Stewart, who used waggler tactics close in on peg 17, to catch 70lb 5ozs. Dave Hurlston came second with a 66lb 11oz catch while inform Kevin Milne came third with 39lb 6ozs.

After a slow start to Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday Open Paul Bates caught steadily on peg 26 until a duck invasion slowed things down during the last hour. At the scales Paul weighed 45lb of bream and silver fish plus over 30lbs of carp to win with a 75lb 4oz catch. Bruce Robinson weighed 49lb 10ozs from peg 41 to take second place with Ian Shirley finishing third with 35lb 6ozs.

Measham’s Wednesday evening Open match series was pegged along the Globe and Green Lane stretches of the canal at Snarestone. Leading the way with another excellent bream catch from the Globe section was Ian Plant who weighed 9lb 11ozs. Pete Allwood came second with a 4lb 1ozs catch of small bream while Andy Smith weighed two decent bream to take third place with 3lb 3ozs.

The top five all weighed over 100lbs when Lutterwort­h Angling Club visited Toft Lakes near Rugby. Pegged on the Carp Lake, anglers found the fish feeding close in with match winner Phil Neep, fishing at just four metres to land 159lb 5ozs. Colin Clarke weighed117­lb 5ozs to take second place, Dick Garner came third with 108lb 13ozs, Dick Makepeace finished fourth with 101lb 15ozs. Mick Bassett completed the top places with his ten carp catch weighing 101lb 11ozs.

Higham Lane Fishery’s Wednesday evening match was won by Kevin Milne who weighed 43lb 11ozs from peg 21. Mark Ward came second with 34lb 11ozs while Clive Oliver took third place with 28lb 6ozs.

Veteran angler Tom Watt took the honours in Maynes Lakes Wednesday Open match. Swapping his trusty feeder rod for a pole Tom caught in the margins on sweet corn and pellet to finish with 47lb 9ozs. Result; Pool One; Winner, Darryl Moore 21lb 6ozs from peg 34. Pool Two; Winner Tom Watt peg 50.

Shackersto­ne’s Members Richardson Cup contest was won by Geoff Taylor who included a 3lb zander in his 3lb 14oz catch. Kevin Hicks came second with a 1lb 9oz catch of small fish with Graham Morris third with 1lb 1ozs.

Thursday’s Open match at Higham Lane was won by Terry Sanderson with a 44lb 11oz catch from peg 17. Darren Milne came second with 35lb 6ozs while Mick Linnett finished third with 25lb 10ozs.

There was a close finish to Saturday’s Lychgate Fisheries Open as Terry Brindley took the honours by just 6ozs, weighing 40lb 11ozs from peg 38 while Ian Shipley weighed 40lb 5ozs from peg 47 to finish second. Martin Thompson came third with 36lb 12ozs.

Higham lane Fishery have Open matches on Wednesday Evening, draw 5.30pm and every Thursday draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches every Saturday, draw 9.15am and Sunday draw 12 noon.

Measham Angling Club have their T. Walters Memorial Shield Open match this Sunday. Draw 8am at the Globe Inn.
