Theatre and live music at park
THE ruins of Bradgate Park House will provide the backdrop for a summer season of outdoor performances – from open-air theatre to live music.
During August, there will be the chance to enjoy Bradgate Park Proms and the Acoustic Folk Picnic returns for a second year, alongside daytime family theatre in the summer holidays.
Daytime family theatre is back at the park on August 2 and 3, with Quantum Theatre’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s The Reluctant Dragon.
The Bradgate Proms, on Saturday, August 18, will feature Leicestershire’s Bardi Wind Orchestra.
The concert will show a lighter side of the symphonic band’s repertoire, with selections from shows, the movies, TV themes and pop music, as well as the traditional sea shanties and proms music that thrill and engage audiences.
Starting at 7pm, the event will culminate in a light show and wildlifefriendly pyrotechnics, all set against the backdrop of the home of Lady Jane Grey.
On the following day, Sunday, August 19, the Acoustic Folk Picnic takes place. There will be seven sets across the day, which starts at 12pm and finishes at 8pm. Grand Union 3, which brings together local performers Andy Griffiths, Kate Easton and Matt Kennison, will open the day.
Peter Tyldesley said: “The ruins are a perfect venue for a family picnic as part of a great day out within the park.”
